Eloise Bridgerton
Actor: Claudia Jessie Status In The Family: The fifth Bridgerton child and the second eldest daughter. What Is Her Story?: Outspoken, sharp, bold, and funny, Eloise is the family black sheep, or so she believes. Never one for ball gowns, parties, or the ritual of courtship, she feels out of place in high society and would rather read a book at home or consort with best friend Penelope than attend a grand soiree. Eloise also has a curious nature that gets her into trouble, and she heavily invests her time investigating the possible identity of Lady Whistledown, whom she admires greatly, until she becomes the victim of her poisoned pen. During the course of her investigation, Eloise falls for printer assistant Theo because they share a passion for books. He is several stations beneath her class, but she still puts herself in danger to visit him at the print shop. As a result, Lady Whistledown accuses her of consorting with revolutionaries. (In actuality, the accusation came from Penelope, who was protecting her friend from the queen, who suspected Eloise of being Lady Whistledown.) When Eloise discovered that Penelope was indeed Lady Whistledown, she cut ties with the youngest Featherington and took up a friendship with her tormentor, Cressida Cowper. She is now trying to embrace her place society and find her way without Penelope at her side. Why She's The Best Bridgerton: Eloise's frank nature often makes her a source of much humor, though she often shocks her mother with her attitudes. She has no interest in husbands or motherhood, making her a pariah among the more marriage-minded ladies in high society London. Her steadfastness in who she is and what she wants, and her refusal to bend to the inclinations of society just because she is a woman, is to be admired. Prior to her tiff with Penelope, she stood by her friend and came to her defense at every party, never allowing her to feel left out or alone. Sadly, that is no longer the case. Why She's A Blah Bridgerton: She can hold a grudge, and when she is angry, allows a cruel streak to shine through.

Lord Anthony Bridgerton
Actor: Jonathan Bailey
Status In The Family: As the eldest Bridgerton son, he inherits the title of viscount.
What Is His Story?: When his father died unexpectedly from a bee sting, Anthony became the head of the household and took on all the necessary duties of a viscount. As a result, the burden of running the Bridgerton household made him a bit dour.
When his sister came out in society, he almost destroyed her chances of a good marriage by not understanding the subtle nuances of relationships or love matches, and placed the needs of society above his sister and family. In his mind, the decision was best because he was the head of the family and should not be questioned. Luckily, his mother was able to save the day and remove unwelcomed suitors from darkening their door.
Later, he fell head over heel in love with Kate Sharma, though he was engaged to her sister. They mutual attraction to each other almost destroyed both families, but in the end, Anthony got his happy ending with Kate, who continue to challenge the stubborn Bridgerton, but in a loving way.
Why He’s The Best Bridgerton: Anthony isn't one to shirk away from his responsibilities, and when he was a teen, took on the overwhelming burdens of running the Bridgerton household. He even helped his mother (or tried, at least) through the birth of his youngest sibling. Though he is deathly afraid of making mistakes, he will always admit when he is wrong and try to do right in any situation. He was even willing to duel his best friend to defend his sister's honor.
Why He’s A Blah Bridgerton: Anthony is very stubborn when he wants to be and can be very obsessed with how he is perceived by society. Before Kate, he would not allow his affections for any woman to distract him from his duties, often treating them horribly due to this high standard.
His wife Kate is helping him become a better person.

Colin Bridgerton
Actor: Luke Newton Status In The Family: The third eldest child and son, he will not inherit a title. What Is His Story?: In his younger days, Colin always tried to do what was right and allowed himself to be guided by his morals and his heart. When Featherington cousin Marina seemed destined to be married off to an unsuitable suitor, he saved her, refused to kiss her in an effort to preserve her honor (unaware she was pregnant at the time by another man), and proposed in hasty fashion because he felt it was the right thing to do. When Lady Whistledown exposed Marina's delicate condition, he was heartbroken. He would later visit Marina after she was married to check on her, and the two put the past behind them. Colin always had a great friendship with Penelope Featherington, though he seemed ignorant of her love for him. He holds her in high esteem, and when galavanting around the world, often writes to her. When it appeared that the Featherington family was at the mercy of fraudster Jack Featherington, he stood up for the ladies, determined to save their reputation from a swindler. He was unaware that Lady Portia Featherington was in on the gemstone mine scam. Colin also wants to fit in desperately with his peers and will say things he doesn't mean in an effort to keep the mood light, despite hurting those he adores. After returning from his recent travels, Colin has gone through a bit of a transformation that shed any trace of childhood and left a full grown man in its place. He is now considered the prize of the marriage market. Why He’s The Best Bridgerton: More than his two elder brothers, Colin has a big heart and will try his best to do right in any most situations. He is a defender of women, acting as a hero for people he believes are being taken advantage of, even if that isn't the case. Why He’s A Blah Bridgerton: When his peers were making light of him dancing with Penelope, he was quick to state that he will never consider taking her as a wife or partner. Sadly, Penelope was within earshot of the statement, and she left the soiree in tears.

Benedict Bridgerton
Actor: Luke Thompson Status In The Family: He is next in line for the title of viscount should Anthony step down, fail to produce an heir, or reach an untimely end. Since all these seem unlikely, Benedict is free to pursue any and all flights of fancy. What Is His Story?: Benedict is the art-loving, mischievous, second-born child of the Bridgerton clan. Often found by Anthony's side, Benedict is a free spirit unburdened by the hardship of inheritance and free to live his best life chasing wine, women, and song. He loves art and entered art school with other nobles who were destined to never inherit. However, when he discovered that Anthony bribed the school, he left out of pride. Benedict has had brief affairs with Madame Genevieve Delacroix and an art model named Tessa, but nothing serious as of yet. Why He’s The Best Bridgerton: Benedict often acts as the family's sarcastic conscious, particularly digging into his older brother Anthony when he feels he is being too serious, or downright mean. He is also very close to Colin and gives him sage advice, to a degree. But he is closest to sister Eloise and finds her rebellious spirit both amusing and refreshing. They have a deep understanding of each other because both feel like outsiders. She has called him her "favorite brother." He is very protective of all his family and friends. He is passionate about his art and hopes to make it a career. Somehow. Why He’s A Blah Bridgerton: Benedict didn't really step up to help his brother after his father died and has only benefited from the Bridgerton name, but has done little to help or protect it.

Francesca Bridgerton
Actor: Ruby Stokes Status In The Family: The sixth child and the third daughter. What Is Her Story?: Quiet and shy, Francesca Bridgerton makes her debut in society with little fanfare or fuss. The most pragmatic of all the Bridgertons, she is happy to find whatever suitor her family or her queen feels is best for her. Not one for the spotlight, Francesca often turns to her music for comfort. On the day of her debut, she was found at the piano while her family anxiously awaited her grand entrance. She is in the market for a suitable husband who will allow her to enjoy her music. Why She's The Best Bridgerton: She doesn't care about what others think of her outside of her family, whom she loves dearly. She is a woman of few words and has a shy nature that many find endearing. Why She's A Blah Bridgerton: Her shy and timid nature can be misinterpreted as boring, which she is not. She simply enjoys the quiet moments.

Daphne Basset, The Duchess Of Hastings
Actor: Phoebe Dynevor Status In The Family: Eldest daughter, fourth eldest Bridgerton child, married to the Duke of Hastings. What Is Her Story?: After she was declared the "Diamond" of the season by the queen, all eyes were on Daphne to soon be a bride. But after some meddling by her brother Anthony, her chances in the marriage market seemed slim. She concocted a plan with Simon, the Duke of Hastings, to pretend to be a couple so she can seem more attractive to other suitors, but the plan backfired and the two fell in love. After a bumpy start to the marriage, Daphne gave birth to a son, Augie Basset. After the disastrous wedding of Anthony to his intended, Edwina Sharma, she stood by her family and helped them through the crisis. Of all her siblings, she is closest to her younger sisters Hyacinth and Francesca. Francesca looks up to Daphne because they both play the pianoforte, and is a role model for Hyacinth. Why She’s The Best Bridgerton: Daphne is a modern woman who conceals herself as a reputable lady of the times. Understanding and upset that she has little say in her own life, she helped construct a ruse that would allow her to have some choice in a future partner rather than be at the whims of her overprotective brother with bad taste in men. Daphne understands the constraints of her society, and thus has learned how to rig the game in her favor. She also has one heck of a right hook. Why She’s A Blah Bridgerton: Though it is not her fault, her naïveté about marriage and child birth led her to be deceived by her husband and take her anger out on her mother. Daphne sometimes is unable to express her rage, frustration, or sadness, because she was taught it was unladylike to show extreme emotions. As a result, she sometimes relies on tricks and deceptions to get what she wants. But let's hope that as these schemes have sometimes backfired, she has learned to be more honest with her feelings. Also, when she was feeling particularly hurt and trapped, she used Prince Frederick to further her plan, destroying the chances of rival Cressida finding a husband for that season.
